Been waiting for the tips on dealing with kidney stones and high blood pressure? Here they are:
4. Kidney stones
While different expensive medicines are vastly available in the market, we can always opt for the inexpensive and natural ones. Banaba (Lagerstroemia speciosa) is a proven remedy for kidney stones by effectively flushing out these stones during urination. I can always remember how my uncle was about to undergo a surgical operation to remove his massive kidney stone but because he heed the advice of his friend, the said operation was avoided by his regular intake of home-made banaba tea.
Banaba tablets or capsules are now out in the market, giving the same benefit as preparing a banaba tea at home. If you opt to prepare the tea, having a source of banaba leaves in the backyard, follow these procedures:
1. Collect mature banaba leaves and air dry for 24 hours to lose moisture content. Important: Do not expose to direct sunlight, this affects the efficacy of the tea.
2.For the actual tea preparation, add 10-15 air dried leaves to a liter of freshly boiled water and cover for about five minutes. After such, you can get a portion, like one cup and drink three times daily. Dad does this upon waking up, about an hour after lunch or during snack time in the morning and right before going to sleep. Remember, a cup (or more, dad even drinks about 500ml) for each time interval. Important: Do not boil the leaves, just like in any other case, plant enzymes and other proteins are denatured or damaged by high temperatures thus affecting their activity.
Just an additional info, one can always prepare for a week's tea requirement, just keep the tea in the fridge. You can always drink it cold also. I recommend banaba because unlike other medicinal plants, banaba is not bitter, it almost tastes like plain water, you try. Yet, it is very very effective.
